Finally, Mari Boine is back at the Arctic Arts Festival – 14 years after her last full concert in 2006!

Mari Boine is one of the world’s best vocalists, the greatest Sami icon of our time, known for her music in the Sami and other folk, rock and jazz genres.

Artistic director Ragnheiður Skúladóttir is happy to present one of our time's greates sami icons:

- We really look forward to the opportunity to make a deep dive in her musical universe - and it is not inconceivable that this concert also will offer some completely new songs as well. Her live performances can take the breath away from anyone and everyone, and this will be a concert with a live band, says Skúladóttir.

Known especially for renewing the joik genre and modernizing Sami music in general, Mari Boine has delivered an incredibly rich discography since her debut over 30 years ago, spreading our shared cultural heritage around the world. She has received a lot of recognition for this and has received a number of Spellemann prizes (including the honorary award), the Nordic Council Music Prize, the Samar Council's Honor Award, Knight of the 1st class of the Order of St. Olav, the Ole Vig Prize, the Finnmark County Cultural Prize, Anders Jahre's Cultural Prize, Honorary Doctorate, named a State Fellow and much more - a list that few can match. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to experience music delivered by the beloved and dearly appreciated artist Mari Boine.

- Mari Boine has an impressive carreer and is one of our most known and dearly appreciated artists. Some of her most known songs have been interpreted by artists like Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen (ISÁK), Gunhild Sundli (Gåte) and Jan Garbarek. It is our great pleasure to present her in our largest arene, where she can shine once again, continues Skúladóttir.
