Out of the blue an unpredictable fellow pops up in Harstad square with a heavy load of boxes under his arm. This is Nene, a playful, absurd, and chaotic street juggler with a strong physical presence and gift for the circus.
He creates a flurry of action as he opens the boxes conjuring up a parallel and irrational world as he makes contact with the public, especially the younger audience through challenging their modes of reaction.
The acrobat, juggler and body artist Raul ”Nene” Vargas Torres, hails originally from Bogota in Colombia. Before he began studies in physical theatre he was self taught, blending his own unorthodox discipline with high creativity as the central element.
Vargas Torres has won prizes for several of his performances, amongst others for his one man show ”Foglio Bianco” at the Italian Festival delle arti Young Station (2012) and for ”Yo Soy Ustedes” at the Festival Arena…der Jungen Künste, Germany (2013).
”Nene” has worked with different circus, dance and theatre companies such as the international ”Clowns Without Borders” which provides a welcome distraction for children living in areas of conflict.
In addition to touring with his performances Raul Vargas Torres teaches at the Arts Academy in Bogota, as well as directing workshops for physical theatre and acrobatics in Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico and Switzerland.
This performance is presented in cooperation with PAN productions.
