Inge Bremnes heads homeward! It´s time for an atmospheric gig with the young artist and songsmith from Kvæfjord who has sung his way into the Norwegian hit parade with ”Ka du håpa på” and ”Sne”.
Inge Bremnes writes finely tuned lyrics in both English and Norwegian about the small and the big things in life. He has individuality of expression and distinctive vocal material.
He describes his music as laden with emotion and dynamic, as being inspired by Sigur Ros and Jeff Buckely, and inhabiting the genre of progressive indie pop. NRK Urørt describes him as ”…Jarle Bernhoft and Thomas Dybdahls long lost musical son, with Moddi as a possible uncle.”
But that is not completely accurate. He hails from a very musical family in local Kvæfjord which scarcely needs introduction. Inge Bremnes has written and perfected his songs since he was twelve years of age.
After the song ”Ka du håpa på” was placed on the A-list of NRK P1 this Spring, he released in April the new single ”Kanskje Det E For Mye”. Bremnes played in several of Liverpool´s most famous concert arenas whilst studying at the Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts (LIPA). His band has collaborated with fellow students there and given concerts at the East Village Arts Club where Bremnes was the support act for Natalie McCool, who was crowned 2014 female artist of the year at the Liverpool Music Awards. In Liverpool Bremnes won praise for his strong stage presence and contact with the audience. Bremnes and his band inhabit a musical landscape somewhere between folk, indie, rock and occasional prog-rock.
Last summer he performed at several festivals at home here in Norway after the release of an EP last March. The single ”Sne” from ”Equals” earned praise and was played regularly on the radio channel P3. The EP was recorded at Parr Street Studios where Coldplay earlier recorded. Dagbladet´s music critics pinpoint a strong influence of Coldplay in Bremnes & Co.
For the moment Bremnes is sharing a tour with the singer Nora Konstanse from Helgeland who won last year´s Arctic Arts Festival Tour Stipend and gave her own concert at the festival. Otherwise Bremnes has plans to tour both during the Summer and in the Autumn, with recording sessions at Ocean Sound Recordings in the middle. The northern Norwegian singer/songwriter is currently based in Oslo following his graduation with a Bachelor´s in Music from LIPA.
Inge recieved good write-ups for his debut release ”Screaming Stronger” which was played on NRK P3 throughout the Summer of 2014. In addition, the song was picked to compete in the national final of Bandwagon as one of the year´s best releases.
