The festival poster for 2020 is made by the Icelandic designer Hörður Kristbjörnsson. Kristbjörnsson is an experienced designer, and his design agency DÖÐLUR is recognized for its first-grade creative output and multi-platform development; creating everything from logos, elaborate advertising campaigns, photography, television commercials, hotel design and clothing brands to publishing the most widespread free magazine in Iceland.

Festival director Ragnheiður Skúladóttiris excited to present a very different direction for the festival in 2020:

- Referring both to the ocean and summer solstice the new look underlines the positive and energetic festival spirit we all experience during Festspillene. I am thrilled with the design and look very much forward to seeing it manifest itself in banners, on t-shirts, social media and of course our poster this coming summer, says Skúladóttir.

Sun and fun have been the starting point for the design for the Arctic Arts Festival 2020, and Hörður Kristbjörnsson explains the reasoning behind the visuals:

- When finally we can pull the sun out of the sea we celebrate and come together for a festival. The design and look for 2020 is based on time and location of the festival being in Harstad (68,7°N) on summer solstice (24h sun) in June. Harstad - the horizon, sea and the sky is our reference, with expressive and playful typography emphasizing the joyful and collaborative nature of the festival, says Kristbjörnsson.
