Composition and performance workshop with a record release.
Join with the duo Båndvidda (Isak and Jon Halvor) and make some unique sound pictures with wooden instruments of all kinds. With a starting point of a 6 metre long hanging xylophone, "Stokkofonen", we will research different sound worlds with wood as a basic material. How does "roto-pinnofon" sound, or a "Sanga Bosom"? Wooden drums of different shapes and timbres will also be brought into play, in addition to various sticks and wooden blocks.
Can we tune strings attached to a bush? How does it sound?
Together we compose and play on unique instruments and bring in electronic elements and sampling.
You don´t need to have played an instrument before; all you have to do is come along!
We research which sounds, colours and rhythms we create together, and find out how to play them together. On each day of the workshop we begin with a musical challenge which we set about solving. The day´s finished compositions will be mixed, mastered and recorded on CD´s which we will give to the participants afterwards. The music will also be published on the internet.
The workshop is held at UIT Campus Harstad, formerly Høgskolen i Harstad. Entrance from Havnegata.
THE WORKSHOP IS PAID FOR UPON REGISTRATION.
