Jazz and electronica, steep mountains and an extreme triathlon at the jazz club. The youth of today! Tenor sax, visuals and electronica from Tåkeheimen.
Perhaps you recall last year´s «It´s hell without arms…» at the Arctic Arts festival? Jazz saxophonist Håkon W. Skog Erlandsen made a strong impression.
The musician from Mo is returning with his own solo concert at the festival.
Håkon William Skog Erlandsen is a jazz star from Mo i Rana. Despite his young age he has just completed a seven year stint as a student in Tromsø and Copenhagen. In the last few years he has worked as a freelancer outside his studies, and his expressive playing has led to him sharing the stage with some of the finest musicians in the world. Håkon is a key representative of the next generation of musicians and his performing activities have sent him on tour across the globe. In the summer of 2015 he ventured on a European tour in a band consisting of 18 of the best young musicians in the world.
Most recently he has also demonstrated a gift for brave sporty endeavours. He is an active triathlete and trains several times a day, competing in the toughest competitions on earth. This odd combination made him a perfect candidate for the TV programme ”71° nord” which ran during the Autumn of 2014. Inspired by Michael Brecker and Chris Potter, together with Olav Tufte and Thor Hushovd, Erlandsen´s music is captivating and impressively dynamic, and is regularly described as a kind of musical fireworks.
