A lonely wee thing…is twenty years old this year and we celebrate this jubilee at the Arctic Arts Festival! This production had its premiere on the 14th of June 1996 and since then has been presented more than 600 times, touring in Norway, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Italy. A lonely wee thing…has enjoyed glowing reviews and won various prizes.
The Arctic Arts Festival is a devotee of premieres, but believes it is time to celebrate this jubilee of a much loved local production. A lonely wee thing…is a rare gem. The performance demonstrates how one can capture a local theme and cultivate it, making theatre which captivates the public, both in the northern Norwegian countryside and in metropolitan centres.
The production takes as its starting point the actor´s own upbringing and follows him through life´s phases and helter skelter tempo. We observe him in meeting with the northern Norwegian coastal culture, defined by cod, haddock, pollock and herring. Then we follow him all the way to a street wandering in Buenos Aires where he takes an accordion along for company.
The free theatre company Eilertsen & Granados represents physical theatre with a strong musical element. The company was founded in 2006 by Cristina Granados and Andreas Eilertsen. Eilertsen was one of the initiators of the theatre mileau in Stamsund and was educated at the Institute of Theatre in St.Petersburg between 1992/93. Granados has worked professionally in the theatre scene since 2002 and has qualifications in Spanish literature and art history.
Andreas Eilertsen has been praise both for his musical gifts, hair raising physical antics and uncanny ability at comic mimicry. The company has earlier toured with a juggling performance called Cirkus Granados which was presented in schools.
We congratulate A lonely wee thing…on this notable occasion!
