Andrea Gajic has been celebrated as an incredible talent since she was barely out of primary school, and in her teens performed as a soloist with orchestras all over Europe. Now she joins forces with a Northern Norwegian legend, our very own superstar, Knut Erik Sundquist, and virtuoso Sinae Lee to present a glittering programme.
Sundquist has received national attention and glowing write ups for his recording of the Bottesini Grand Duo. Gajic performs a selection of her favourite repertoire which has delighted audiences across the world. Two classical masters and the brilliant Sinae Lee team up for an elegant and highly entertaining evening.
Andrea Gajic completed her initial studies at the renowned Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow before going on to The Royal College of Music in London. As a chamber musician she has led various ensembles, winning both plaudits and awards, in addition to financial support as the youngest ever recipient of The Scottish International Education Trust. She performs on a violin made by Nicolo Gagliano in 1766.
Sinae Lee comes originally from South Korea, and has a packed schedule of solo and chamber music recitals as well as lectures. She is based in Glasgow in Scotland. She has played with leading orchestras such as the Korean Symphony Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Sinae has given concerts all over the globe and particularly enjoys working with other pianists and violinists such as Andrea Gajic. She has recently been asked to join the new music group Glasgow New Music Expedition (GNME).
Knut Erik Sundquist who is a household name in northern Norway is celebrated for top notch concerts performed with a twinkle in the eye, and accompanied by a generous helping of humour and anecdotes. This native of Harstad is world renowned, having performed amongst other things at the Carnegie Hall in New York. He works as a district musician in the region of Troms and is a lecturer at the Conservatory of Music in Tromsø. Sundquist lives in our own festival town of Harstad and performs regularly with musicians and artists active in other musical genres.
