Why did God give us arms if there´s no one to hug? This will be a glittering gala night with shocks, surprises, and a touchingly poetic performance by a host of northern Norwegian talent from various musical genres.
The title pays tribute to talented artists who desperately need a platform for their work.
Creators want us all to experience movement, music, dance and artistry of the highest class, challenging our expectations with fresh perspectives and strong stage presence.
Your northern Norwegian hosts will delight and enlighten you. You will be greeted on arrival, take your seat, and even be invited to join the dance, artistry and music:
Word class Souljazz, rap from the arctic vidda, acrobatics and halling folk tunes with northern Norwegian roots, jazzsaxophoni which packs a punch, elektronika and piano fantasies, dreamy video projections on the walls, the poetry of dance clothed in sound, folk music with fabulous fiddles and hefty drum riffs.
Why did God give us arms if there is no one to hug? was initiated by The Arts Festival of North Norway and brought to fruition in collaboration with Brynjar Rasmussen from Nordnorsk Jazzsenter and Sigurd Johan Heide, choreographer and dancer in amongst other groups Kartellet.
This concert performance is realised in collaboration with Rytmisk Kompetansenettverk i Nord (RYK). RYK consists of Norsk Jazzsenter, Folkemusikk and Nord og Kompetansesenter for Rock i Nord-Norge.
