Daniel Sandén-Warg and Anders Røine both have backgrounds in rock music, but today are amongst the country´s best known folk musicians. In Revolver two worlds collide: Hardingfele, langeleik, guitar and jew´s harp performed with the intensity of folk musicians, yet with the decibels of rock stars.
With the duo REVOLVER Sandén-Warg and Røine seek after the underlying rock which they maintain lies deep within folk music. They take up their quest with the help of new lyrics, ancient intruments and music which has its roots in Setesdal and Valdres. Hardly surprising that the result is something special, and is both fresh, yet oddly familiar. A kind of tossed salad of Jimi Hendrix and Torleiv Bjørgum meets Keith Richard and Tom Waits. Razor- edged and sultry - that´s Revolver!
They unleash the true rhythmic and melodic potential of their instruments, with a result which would not seem out of place in today´s club scene.
Anders Røine is a familiar figure from a number of bands such as the duo Sudan Dudan and Odd Nordstoga, Valkyrien Allstars, Espen Lind and Little Steven (Lilyhammer). With his genuine musicality and boundless curiosity he brings his instruments vividly to life.
The Swedish hardingfele player Daniel Sandén-Warg is also a veritable one-man-band, and as a musician is equally at home as a soloist and as a backing artist. He was formerly a member of Swedish supergroup Harv, has performed in Mozart´s The Marriage of Figaro, appeared with Odd and Åsmund Nordstoga and the duo Rammeslag. Daniel moved from Sweden to Setesdal at a young age, and quickly became immersed in local music and culture. His fluent Swedish has steadily been replaced with a broad Setesdal accent!
