Just tell me what true love is really like! Two clowns, two lovers with eyes only for each other, a veranda, an affair, Hawaiian shirts, angels´ wings, lofty pledges of love, emptiness, crossed swords and feuds.
What might have happened if Romeo and Juliet had finally gone steady and moved in together? In Julie + Romeo we meet two clowns who dream of becoming Romeo and Juliet, the perfect romantic couple. The performance turns Shakespearean romantic drama on its head and examines the great ideals and klisjées of today. How do clowns cope when everyday humdrum clashes with love´s sweet embrace? When great expectation and desire falls upon the rocky shores of daily minutiae? Julie + Romeo is a funny, off-the-wall yet touching tragi-comedy about romantic love in all its beauty, but also reveals all the despair and disappointment that so often comes with it.
Katja Brita Lindeberg is born and raised in Trondheim where she now works as a performing artist and actress. She studied with the Canadian clown/pedagogue Sue Morrison before completing a Masters in physical comedy at the Stockholm Dramatiska Högskola in 2011. The thesis of her research examined the role of the clown in relation to gender.
Katja produces and performs in her own productions. The performances are often highly interactive, with on-stage interaction between actors and audience. Katja created the production Om bare Rosa kunne trylle, which will also be shown as part of this year´s Arts Festival of North Norway.
