As a tribute to Yehudi Menuhin, the Arts Festival of North Norway invites you to the opening festival concert featuring Henning Kraggerud, Tromsø Chamber Orchestra and the prizewinner of this year's Menuhin competition.
The Arts Festival
of North Norway 2012 opens this year with a concert in which regional, national
and international performers meet. Henning Kraggerud, leading the Tromsø
Chamber Orchestra, brings with him a promising young international talent. In
addition to being artistic leader for the orchestra, Kraggerud is a jury member
for the Menuhin Competition Bejing 2012. In 2010 the international competition
for young violinists was arranged for the first time in Norway. Kraggerud gave
master classes for the young aspirants, and in April 2012 he will be a member
of the jury in China. In June, he brings a number of prize winners to Harstad!
The competition was established in 1983 by the legendary violin virtuoso,
teacher and humanist Yehudi Menuhin, the idol and inspiration for an entire
generation of musicians throughout the world, with a vision encapsulated in the
famous words "Everybody has the right to music"!
On the programme: Sparre Olsen,
John Rutter, Ernest Chausson, Peter Warlock, Johan Sebastian Bach and
Edvard Grieg.
