The Arts Festival is proud to present Niko Valkeapää, Sápmi Music Artist 2012!
The style is honest, personal and vulnerable. Apart from Valkeapää's warm voice, the soundscape is coloured by a number of acoustic instruments. The lyrics touch on the darker sides of human nature more than ever before, but not without losing a certain twinkle of the eye! Valkeapää celebrates his 25-year-long musical career, although he remained unknown to the non-Sami audience before he won the Norwegian grammy in the open class in 2003. After his debut, he has released several critically acclaimed CDs and will release another two albums this year. He grew up in Finland, but since 1990 he has lived in Guovdageaidnu-Kautokeino. Elin Kåven, Sápmi Music Artist 2011 guested the Arts Festival of North Norway last year. Kåven is very pleased that one of her greatest idols will now succeed her in 2012.
