The Norwegian Academy of Music is coming to the North Norwegian Festival of the Arts!

From Wednesday to Friday during the festival week, some 30 music students from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo will make their presence known. The students, who come from different countries and represent various musical genres, will exchange musical concepts and experiences with people they meet. They will be housed by host families and will pop up in various locations when you least expect them...

The students' host families are in for a pleasant cultural experience in the comfort of their own homes. Perhaps a musical breakfast or a spontaneous music lesson?

World stories
The students and local citizens will meet for a three-day workshop at Borkenes asylum centre in Kvæfjord, where the cultural exchange will be the centre of focus.

Salsa in North-Norwegian
Friday 29 June, the students will guest Ludo with a concert featuring salsa music. This concert is guaranteed to swing!

Open concert
The residents of the Borkenes Reception Facility invite us to a concert with students from the Norwegian Academy of Music and local music organizations as a finale to the day they have spent together. They will play for one another and for the visiting audience. You are invited to the concert Thursday 28 June at 5 p.m. in Kvæfjord Cultural Centre.

Golden sound
Did you know that your smart telephone can be the gateway to a new type of cultural experience? Five students of composition will create a rebus map of Harstad where they plot inn sounds and music that the public can locate with the help of a smart telephone. The content of this special musical experience is inspired by "The Golden Record" that was sent with the Voyager space probes in 1977. The sounds on the 12-inch gilded copper plate were meant to portray the diversity of live and cultures on the planet Earth. During the Arts Festival of North Norway these will be supplemented, expanded and commented on by a range of sounds from the local environment.
