The present, past and future meet in the Opening Concert of the Arts festival of North Norway June 2012, featuring Henning Kraggerud and Tromsø Chamber Orchestra..
As a tribute to Menuhin, The Arts Festival of North Norway will dedicate this years Opening Concert to Menuhin inspired by his motto: ”Everybody has the right to music.”Together with Henning Kraggerud the festival invites one of the prize winners in the 2012 competition as soloist. Besides solo pieces for violin, the program will also include Edward Elgars´Serenade and the Holberg suite by Edvard Grieg.
In addition to his many international engagements as soloist and conductor, Henning Kraggerud will be juror in the Menuhin Competition in Beijing 2012. This international competition for young violinists was held in Norway for the first time spring 2010, where Kraggerud performed in the Opening Concert and gave masterclasses to the young talents.
The Competition was founded in 1983 by the legendary violin virtuoso and teacher Yehudi Menuhin, a roll model and an inspiration for generations of musicians worldwide.
